“Just Be You Tiful” by Rich Simmons in Croydon, London

Rich Simmons is a British street artist who works with the juxtaposition of images and words transmitting social commentary and sense of humour. He takes inspiration from the comic book world, including an influence of Pop Art style and using stencils to mix them up with the versatility of the spray can. In 2008 Rich creates “Art is the Cure” a community that engages a support message to the schools and youth organisations through the creativity. In the series “Just Be You Tiful” Simmons explores the concept of beauty in everything beyond the obvious and stereotypes. In this way we can see beauty through the glamour, through the fetish, through every single aspect of the life because the beauty is in the honesty to be just the way you are. To share this message Rich is inspired by retro, vintage style 50’s introducing pinups and using a bold colour palette to create images that push the boundaries and encourage the people to think.
